I started at Capitol Tattoo in 1997 as a counterperson, where I learned to pierce. This is where I met Chris Smith, Chris Keaton and Bill Stevenson.
In the fall of 1998, Chris Smith left Capitol and opened N.E. Tattoo, where I began my apprenticeship. I learned the fundamentals of machine building & tuning, and many basic styles of tattooing necessary to get by in everyday tattooing. Chris Smith and I also toured the U.S. doing major conventions including the South Florida Tattoo Expo, Hell City Tattoo Convention, Route 66 Tattoo Conventions including Dallas, D.C., Detroit, New Orleans Expo and Philadelphia Eddie's. In the winter of 2003, Chris Smith sold N.E. Tattoo and we went on to work for Great Southern Tattoo Co. (Est. 1979) to broaden our horizons. Having known Chris Keaton and Bill Stevenson from Capitol Tattoo, they had me fill in at the Baltimore Tattoo Museum from to time, which eventually led to a regular schedule.
